Library Programs
In 2024, Handpan Dan started offering library summer reading programs. Dan enjoys educating the next generation on this new instrument. He brings a collection of uncommon instruments from around the world and teaches about the origin and use of each instrument. Dan has fun jamming with library friends and seeing them explore these instruments firsthand. Handpan Classes
In 2021, Dan started offering introductory handpan classes in efforts to get more people interested in the handpan. Purchasing a handpan can be confusing because it is a new instrument with many available options, but little opportunity to try before buying. Finding a handpan at a music store is rare and they may only have one scale available. It is helpful to play different handpan scales in person because certain scales may resonate with you more than others. Join a class to try out different scales, learn basic playing techniques, and leave with enough confidence and information to start your handpan journey today. We have a growing community of players around Wichita and we’d love to have you join us!
Street Performing
In 2020, Dan started busking (street performing). He dreamed of doing this since he first started watching handpan videos online.
Dan enjoys surprising others with moments of unexpected joy. He busks regularly in Wichita and hopes it becomes a more popular public art form. Dan also enjoys spreading joy in other cities when he travels!
Fostering Community and Wellness
In 2022, Dan started playing handpan for unhoused community events. Each week he performs for a group to help reduce stress and enhance well-being while they enjoy an afternoon lunch in the park. Everyone deserves some peace and joy!
